May was our 12th Birthday, 12 years of the finest
alernative and industrial dance music going. Hundreds from all over
the UK came along. Waht a night!

We had a very special MUTATE
in March. We welcomed DJ VLRK, aka Grendel main man Jos Tucker,
to the MUTATE floor @ The Wendy House on Sat March 20th 2010! E-flyer
here.
Hailing from Den Haag in the Netherlands, Jos needs little introduction
as the mastermind behind the band Grendel and the man responsible
for MUTATE anthems such as
Soilbleed, Hate This, Harsh Generation, Void Malign and their storming
cover of Zombie Nation.
With their current EP, Chemicals and Circuitry, riding high in
alternative charts all over Europe and his tracks destroying dancefloors
the world over it promises to be an absolutely fantastic night of
industrial madness!
As always our residents, Geoff, Gillywoo and Glenn, were on the
decks spinning our usual mix of pounding industrial & hard dance.
All this and still only £5 on the door !!
The January 16th event was the first Mutate of 2010, Many hundreds
joined us for the best alternative dance tunes.
DJ Richard (who is the man behind Music
Non Stop) and Paul from the industrial room of Manchester Rockworld
join the Mutate crew in October for a battle of the decks. :-) Expect
the usual dancefloor fillers!
More info here: www.mutate.info
MUSIC NON STOP STALL
We have a stall in the main room selling the best in alternative
and underground electronic music CDs, with some merchandise too,
from the lovely people at Music Non Stop. Bring some extra cash!

room was undergoing a refurbishment, so the main room is in the
smaller "Mine" room. We're back to normal in September.

new limited edition Wendy House T-shirts for 2009.

May 16th was our 11th Birthday party - 11 years fo the best pounding industrial music!
DJ Geoff's band Modulate are supporting Alec Empire on tour on the following dates: 1st May London, Camden Underworld and 2nd May, Manchester Satan's Hollow. Tickets available from www.musicnonstop.co.uk/
He's also DJing the 150th Vampire Party event in Antwerp with Johan Van Roy, SVN, DJ Cyberchrist and DJ Hive on Sat 9th May.
Those wonderful people at Crunchpod are giving us a few copies of the brand spanking new Uberbyte album "DOS"
"DOS" maintains UBERBYTE's penchant for hook-driven songwriting, this time with a darker, grittier edge. It also sees the band emerge from a whirpool of influences into something altogether more realized and mature.
The album is out on 10th April.
In January 2009 we have a release party for Alter de Ruine's new
album with CD giveaways...
Those lovely people at Crunchpod have given us some copies of the
truly wonderful new album from Alter Der Ruine: "Giants From
Far Away".
Alter Der Ruine sets the bar high for themselves with their new
CD "Giants From Far Away".
They've pulled a lot of different influences into the mix to create
an album unlike anything else they've done to date. It's crammed
with enough electronics to make the dancefloor happy, as well as
generous genre forays to keep a keen listener amused.
With elements of electro, industrial, IDM, hardcore and even black
metal, Giants From Far Away sets out to be something more than just
another album. And it could quite possibly be that something with
enough personality to be your new audio best friend.
Also... DJ Gilly DJs at Vienna's 666
club night on 31st January on the bill with Gary Numan...
After Mutate's DJs Glenn and Geoff DJed at
their night in Rome in October 2008 Marko from the band XP8
guest DJed in the 2nd room in November. This was a special night
and a great mix of the best pounding industrial and EBM as always.
Don't forget our 2nd room's very own DJ Geoff Lee's band Modulate
have released their debut album Buy
it from Music Non Stop here.
MUTATE ROOM - MODULATE OFFICIAL ALBUM LAUNCH

Our 10th Birthday Party was on Saturday May 17th.
This was a sell out and amzing atmosphere event with over 1600
people from all over the UK in attendance.
Due to being ill at very short notice we are sad to say that Ronan
Harris could not DJ here on the 10th Birthday event. We only found
out hours before the event was supposed to take place and this has
been totally out of our control.
FLOOR 1: Party darkly to darker Alternative favourites
in the main "Stylus" room with all 3 resident DJs, who
were there at the beginning!
FLOOR 2: Mutate
moved to the larger Mine room for a one off,.
FLOOR 3: Was a one off request friendly mainstream
and extreme metal room, representing all the requests we've had
recently for heavier tunes, with 3 top UK DJs: Traumahound (Stormblast,
Sheffield), Bug ( Devastator, Leeds),
spike (Assault, Nottingham).
This was a quite amazing celebration of 10 years of The Wendy House.
March and April were amazingly packed events. See our setlists here.
Saturday Feb 16th was our late Valentines day special ...
January 19th we had over 1100 people from all over the UK in attendence! Wow what a night!
We can confirm that we have a Judas Coven DJ set (Ex-Lab4)
lined up in the Mutate room again on Sat December 15th!!
We had so much fun in September, we thought we'd have him back...
:-)
Adam needs little introduction. Having been one of the founding
members of Lab 4 and having DJed all over the world, his music has
been played by all the top global Hard Dance DJs. He absolutely
ripped the roof off at Mutate
in September... and this should be no different!!
We may not have access to the larger Mine room as previous advertised
and we will be in our usual room, but rest assured the Mutate Xmas
party is going to be an enormous, pounding fun night!
October: DJ Echo was back from his world tour
with Combichrist and VNV Nation earlier in the year with his band
Modulate...
September: We had a guest DJ set from non other than the internationally renowned Adam from Judas Coven and ex Lab 4 whilst DJ echo is touring with Combichrist in his band Modulate during September.
DJ echo was touring with Combichrist in his band Modulate during August and Septmeber, but we had fantastic guest DJs to make up for it. On August 18th it's DJ n0_nAMe from BEDLAM in Glasgow.
August: Join us for this month's pounding dose of dance floor filling
industrial and hard dance music. DJ Echo will be with us again this month but will be jetting off to the US with Combichrist on their tour in August and September. See details of his already highly acclaimed industrial band Modulate here.
June: There will be details very soon on the site about some amazing guest DJs in the coming months (including a certain ex member of Lab 4 at our September event)... Mutate website.
Check out last month's Mutate setlist here....
For downloadable MUTATE DJ mixes and profiles look here.
May: We had loads going on for our MUTATE birthday
celebrations: BOOZE UP AND RIOT!!
We had a few copies of the new Caustic album 'Booze up and riot'
to give away as well as some posters, courtesy of those lovely people
at Crunchpod. For those unfamiliar with Caustic: Caustic have become
one of the most ironic bands in the electronic music genre. After
finishing up their playing one show and getting kicked off tour
in support of KMFDM in the autumn of 2006, Caustic earned even more
notoriety among fans of industrial rock who had previously never
heard of them. "Booze Up And Riot", is an explosive barrage
of corrosive beats, leering vocals, and acidic melodies : A high
energy, adrenaline charged piece of sonic battery...Highly recommended!!!
You can catch Caustic at Infest in Bradford this year making his
UK debut.
We had guest DJ in the guise of Richard Dove from Manchester RockWorld,
InFest, Bleep and Deadstars. DJ Echo is touring with VNV nation
this month. InFest tickets are also on sale with no booking fee
ask for Paul (Rockworld's DJ Bastard) at the DJ booth.
Wendy House and Mutate's DJ
Glenn is DJing at the opening night of "Darkside"
which is a new EBM / trance night being put on by the Darkside crew
at the Sinners room at Leeds Rios, Saturday 5th May. Leeds Rios
is a new 3 room, 1650 capacity live venue opening in Leeds in May
at the Grand Arcade mall, opposite The
Atrium, near Gatecrasher's "Discotheque".
Deathstars are
playing in the live venue that night as well.
DJ Echo's band Modulate are currently touring europe with VNV Nation... see the website: www.modulateonline.com
Saturday March 17th was a St Patricks Day special this month!!
Saturday February 17th was a packed and very bouncy event!!
Saturday January 20th was our 1st Mutate of 2007 and was an amazing atmosphere!!
December 16th - was our fantastic Xmas special!!
We're back to the full capacity and the "normal" format of using
the usual Stylus main room and the new Pulse room this month with
all the building work complete for a new look Wendy
House venue.
Mutate had it's last night in Mine in July, for the forseeable future. In August it moves to it's brand new room upstairs.
This is a 350 capacity venue, slightly smaller than the old "Mine" room and is shaping up rather nicely to be a fantastic new home for us.
Mutate is proud to announce that we are holding the E.S.A. Album Launch party on August 19th. E.S.A's debut album 'devotion, discipline and denial' will be coming out on Hive records on 25th July and we will have giveaways to celebrate at August's Mutate.
Bonus competition: As always we have an online competition here - this month we have a bonus competition.
At the August event the Mutate Room is holding an album launch for the latest compilation by LA based club, Das Bunker with copies of the album to give away as prizes. This compilation features our own DJ Echo's Modulate project along with ESA.
Email us at
with the subject line "Das Bunker comp" and answer the following question: "How old will The Wendy House be NEXT birthday?" The first 3 correct answers will win. The lucky winners will have their names taken down and will be able to collect their CD from the Mutate DJ booth in it's new upstairs room.
This 2xCD featured 28 tracks from both established stars of the scene like Combichrist, Imperative Reaction and Soman as well as soon to be well known acts Captive of Society, W.A.S.T.E. and Modulate. Full details here.
July was our last event in the "Mine venue. We're looking forward to our new home!
The Next Mutate is Saturday June 17th. This is our first event of the Summer and we're looking forward to as much of a storming night as we had at our May event... photos of which are on The Wendy House website.
During the Summer the Leeds University Union venue is being substantially upgraded. This does mean that The Wendy House will soon once more becomes a 2 room venue. In August Mutate will move back to the substantially enlarged and totally refurbished "Bar Coda" room. The current "Mine" venue that we currently live in will no longer be part of The Wendy House but will be run as a seperate club night by different promoters with a different ticket price. We will be playing the same great music and we will still provide one of the biggest and the best dark alternative nights in the UK despite these slight changes.
Saturday May 20th is the The Wendy House's 8th Birthday Party so tell your friends and bounce along for more pounding hard electronic music!
Mutate has been the partner floor to The Wendy House for 8 years bringing you the best in underground electronic dance music. Look out for more news soon.
April 22nd. This month the Wendy House is on
the 4th Saturday of the month due to the venue closing on the Easter
weekend. We will be back to the 3rd Saturday of the month for the
rest of the events this year.

anticpated return of guest DJ Lee Chaos from the legendary Judder
night. Lee Chaos of Wasp Factory fame is infamous in the UK industrial
scene and has always played to a fantastic dancefloor reception!
December... OK it's cold outside some come along on December 17th
and bounce around with Glowsticks and warm yourslves to the finest
hard beat indsutrial and hard dance.
November brings guest DJ's to MUTATE from Nightmare
in Nottingham with sets from DJ's Gadge and Simon. Echo and Gilly
will be DJ'ing @ Nightmare in Nottingham on Friday 11th Novemeber.
October saw MUTATE move from it's old home in the Student Union,
Bar Coda, to the brand new purpose built club venue downstairs,
Mine. This has two effects,
firstly MUTATE gets a fantastic new home with a stunning sound system,
lighting, bar, lots of seating and an increase in capacity to 450
people and secondly, Bar Coda has now become a market place of stalls
selling clothing, CD's, accessories etc taking The
Wendy House total capacity to an amazing 1600 people!
This month Echo will be playing a guest slot down at Judder
in Cheltenham on Friday 28th October along with Lee Chaos for a
Halloween Special and Gillywoo will be playing a guest slot at Ressurected
in Leeds along with Jamie (ESA) on Sat 29th October for a noise/EBM
special.
